The Great Outdoors Will Be Featured at First Movie Night

The classic movie, The Great Outdoors will be featured at the first movie night of the season on Saturday night, May 26th at Bill Trower Memorial Park in Perry.  The free movie night is sponsored by the City of Perry and 154 Marine.  Come early to view the 154 Marine display starting at 7 pm.  There will also be music, and traditional movie snacks.  The movie will begin at dusk.  The City of Perry recommends movie watchers to bring a blanket or lawn chair to the event.  Organizers hope everyone comes and enjoys a great night of family friendly fun.

Perry Fourth of July Celebration Scheduled

Perry Fourth of July CelebrationThe Perry Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2014 schedule of events for the Perry Fourth of July Celebration.  This year’s celebration will be held on Friday, July 4th at Bill Trower Memorial Park in Perry.  This year’s celebration will be highlighted by the return of the 1898, 24 horse and 4 chariot carousel that ran in Perry from 1942 thru the early 1960s.  The carousel is owned by the Faust Park foundation in Chesterfield, MO and is on loan to the Friends of the Perry Carousel.  We plan to have the carousel available for rides, a group of men and women are working the carousel to get it ready for the fourth.  The carousel has not run since 1991.    Below is a schedule of events, events subject to change.  Click Here for Printable Event Poster

10:00 am – Drink Stand Opens / Train Rides

10:30 am – Kids Championship Pedal Tractor Pull

10:30 am – Merry-Go-Round Dedication

10:45 am – Merry-Go-Round rides

11:00 am – Great Central Lumber Company Frog Jump

11:00 am – Chamber Fish Fry

1:00 pm – Fourth of July Antique Tractor Pull

1:30 pm – Yancey Auto Parts Sunflower Seed Spitting Contest
